Mapping The Sawkill: A Percussion Orchestra with Dreiky Caprice

As part of the Mapping the Sawkill series, join artist and musician Adriana Magaña (aka Dreiky Caprice) for an interactive percussion performance in and alongside Sawkill Creek. Attendees will be encouraged to play percussion instruments with the creek as a living collaborator and conductor. Instruments and instruction are provided along with your intuition. This is an invitation to slow down, listen, interact deeply, and use all senses in collaboration with the Sawkill. As Adriana puts it, "Today and everyday the Sawkill Creek is a living entity, musical collaborator, and conductor."

Adriana Magaña is a multi-instrumentalist, multi-media artist, ecological designer, and activist. Her work as a musician spans decades, having played with numerous bands on the east and west coast. She currently plays percussion with Peruvian cumbia band Los Abstractioneros and is recording an album composed on electronic and acoustic instruments. She is also teaching volunteers how tending the land around us connects us to place and fosters deep diversity.

Trail Accessibility: The creek is accessed through the Comeau Property. Restrooms are available and parking is located at the trail entrance. The path is relatively flat but there are many thick, exposed tree roots on the ground. It is approximately a half-mile walk, followed by a slope down to the river bank, which is made entirely of smooth river stones.
