Program details: View the full program

I'm honored to be presenting alongside Miranda Javid, program coordinator at Woodstock Land Conservancy, at the 2026 New York Land Conservation Conference. Our workshop, Art Meets Ecology: Creative Strategies for Engaging Communities on Conserved Lands, explores how land trusts can integrate artistic collaboration into stewardship and outreach, and how to design creative, community-based projects that interpret ecological processes, inspire public participation, and deepen visitors' connections to conserved lands.

In the first half of the session, Miranda will highlight innovative Woodstock Land Conservancy projects at the intersection of art and ecology, including Zoe Keller's Zena Highwoods Biodiversity Project, Zaneta's Invitations to Land, and my Mapping the Sawkill exhibition. In the second half, I'll provide a closer look at Mapping the Sawkill, showcasing the interactive sculpture and workshops I've developed, and illustrating how art can catalyze local engagement to protect the Sawkill Creek and its watershed.

Whether you're a land trust professional, artist, or community organizer, this session offers practical, replicable strategies for strengthening the connections between people and the landscapes they protect. I hope to see you there.
